Firefox, Web Developer, Validome XHTML

March 6, 2008 – 1:21 am by Dani Iswara

This note will explain how to add button / link of Validome XHTML validation to Web Developer extension of Firefox. The Web Developer extension is a ‘must have’ web developer tools designed for Firefox, Netscape Navigator , Flock & Seamonkey browsers. Yes it’s about web standards.

Currently no browser passes Acid3 test.

Acid3 is the third in a series of test pages written to help browser vendors ensure proper support for web standards in their products. Acid3 is primarily testing specifications for “Web 2.0″ dynamic Web applications.

Back to the extension. Web developer extension will run on any platform including GNU/Linux, Windows & Mac OS X. Various web developer tools related to CSS, forms, validation tools (CSS, XHTML, feed, links, speed report, accessibility), source viewer, javascript, resize window, etc. are available on right click menu and browser’s toolbar.

As a non-commercial Validation Software, Validome–an object-oriented programming, is a fast & reliable tool in order to check your HTML / XHTML / XML documents, websites or weblogs. It is a great tool for conformity against W3C-Standards. Suitable for Webmasters & professional developers.

Now we would like to add Validome XHTML links to web developer tools:

  1. Install web developer extension & restart your browser
  2. From the ‘Tools’ (drop-down) menu of its extension, click on ‘Edit Tools…’
  3. On the pop-up ‘Tools’ window, click on ‘Add…’
  4. On the next pop-up ‘Add Tool’ window, fill the ‘Description’ (or just type ‘Validome XHTML validation’)
  5. Click on ‘URL’ for ‘Tool Type’
  6. Enter this URL
    http://www.validome.org/validate?verbose=1&uri=
  7. Click ‘OK’ on both pop-ups
  8. Open your website / weblog
  9. On web developer toolbar, click on ‘Tools’ » ‘Validome XHTML Validation’ (depend on your description above)…

Here is the result of this page:
Valid XHTML 1.1
