Medical Weblog Design

April 12, 2008 – 9:17 am by Dani Iswara

When looking for medical weblog and medical blog on Google.com, I found something different in their blog design. I just follow the 2 first search result pages. Currently no Indonesian medical weblog there, the same result for Medical Informatics Blogs.

Although we know about Medical Website Design for Healthcare Marketing, but probably that is not a priority.

Ok, here the result for the 2 first search result pages on Google.com.

Twenty (20) web blog pages are followed. I visited their home pages.
Fourteen (14) of them (70%) have already used own domain or paid hosting.
The interesting one (in my opinion) is, 18 (90%) of their blogs’ home page have:

  • Too long scroll down.
Which could mean slow loading for some of dial-up Internet connection users (especially in Indonesia). :)
It might make the home page too heavy to load in the reasonable time.
  • No excerpt (read more styles) post.
It means many of them use short brief posts.
But for the long post, it could refer to the first point.

I guess it’s OK for the fast Internet connection & FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) web pages.
Maybe a little bit earlier to talk about web standard design (web optimization - speed report) in medical blogs…
Read also Desain Weblog / Website yang Ubiquitous (Indonesian).

Actually, they have a lot of quality contents also. Give it a try…

What about Indonesian medical weblogs?
