Scrolling on synaptics touchpad

It works after editing /etc/X11/xorg.conf:

...
Section "ServerLayout"
InputDevice "TouchPad" "CorePointer"

emerge synaptics

Bluetooth (external; dongle)

Make sure the kernel configuration has Bluetooth support. Then emerge some packages:

emerge bluez-utils openobex obexftp

Faster search in portage

Use eix instead of emerge -s packagename

emerge eix
update-eix
eix-sync

Then try:

eix packagename

Free up disk space

Be aware of your files. See rm --help first. As root (su/sudo), we can run:

rm -r /var/tmp/portage/*
rm -r ~/.local/share/Trash/files/

Masked packages problem

If you are sure about the packages, as root run:

echo "packagegroup/packagename" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords

or

echo "=packagegroup/packagename-version" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords

eg.

echo "=web-client/mozilla-firefox-3.0.1" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords
